From a small commercial school in 1960 to one of Ghana's World Bank Oil & Gas Capacity Building institutions — Kikam Technical Institute trains students to work with their hands and lead with integrity.
Founded on a simple idea: practical skill changes lives.
- 1960 — Acumen Commercial Technical School
Founded by the late Abraham Acquah, a Catechist of Kikam Methodist Church, in the heart of Kikam town.
- 1963 — Fathia Vocational Institute
After the release of land by the Chief of Kikam, Nana Kerma Bertu II, the school moved to its present site with 3 teachers and 90 students.
- September 1963 — Kikam Technical Institute
Absorbed into the public system and renamed. Administered under Takoradi Technical Institute (now Takoradi Technical University) until 1965.
- Today — Ghana TVET Service
A day/boarding mixed institution of over 2,500 students, selected by Government for the World Bank Oil & Gas Capacity Building Project.
Kikam Technical Institute is situated at Kikam in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region of Ghana, off the Takoradi–Elubo highway between Asanta and Esiama. It was founded in February 1960 by the late Abraham Acquah, a Catechist of the Kikam Methodist Church, under the name Acumen Commercial Technical School, in the heart of Kikam town.
Following the release of land by the then Chief of Kikam, Nana Kerma Bertu II, the school moved to its present location in 1963 and was renamed Fathia Vocational Institute, opening with three teachers and ninety students. In September 1963 it was absorbed into the public system and its name changed to Kikam Technical Institute. Until 1965 it was administered under Takoradi Technical Institute — now Takoradi Technical University.
KIMTECH is a mixed day-and-boarding institution. It operated under the erstwhile Technical/Vocational Education Division of the Ghana Education Service and currently operates under the auspices of the Ghana TVET Service. The Institute is one of three institutions in the country selected by Government for the World Bank Oil and Gas Capacity Building Project, and its state-of-the-art workshops support the academic and professional training of more than two and a half thousand students.

Management structure.
- Board of Governors — highest decision-making body under the Pre-Tertiary Education Act (1048) of 2020.
- Core Management — Principal, Vice Principals and Accountant for strategic decisions.
- Management Board — ten-member body for broader consultation on school administration.
- Academic Board — Principal, Vice Principals, Accountant and Heads of Departments for teaching and learning.
- Domestic Team, Chaplaincy, Disciplinary & Sports Committees — student welfare, spiritual life and discipline.
